Rest will be covered in upcoming 3 days: CMO Budgam
As part of governments drive to eradicate polio, at least 91% of children administered polio drops in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.
As per Chief Medical Officer Budgam, Nazir Ahmad Bhat they had setup 618 Intensified Pulse polio immunization (IIPI) booths in the district.
He said in Budgam district they have total population of 7.5 lakh and out of that over 1 lakh children were given polio drops on Sunday.
“We have completed 91% of the children in the district and rest would be covered in upcoming 3 days in house and house campaign,” Bhat said.
He also said they had also setup 8 transit camps and 5 slums in the district.
Apart from that there are also 57 hard to reach areas in the district which includes Chari-e-Sharif, Khansahib,Nagam, Khag and other areas,” Bhat said.
Earlier, the immunization drive was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Tariq Ahmad Ganie at CMO’s office in Budgam.
The inaugural event was attended by Deputy CMO Budgam, DTO Budgam, DIO Budgam, DPM Budgam and other staff of the department.
Meanwhile adequate quantity of pulse polio doses have been kept available in the hospitals and designated booths.
The total available manpower deployed on booths in the district were 2468 and out of that 1048 were the health workers, 624 Asha workers, 672 ICDS workers and 124 volunteers.
The CMO said they had designated 10 supervisors in the district while 124 officers at block levels.
In case of any rumor or any grievance, two special rapid action spells were formed at District headquarters and blocks.
