Only 18% Govt schools have regular headmasters

 In Jammu and Kashmir only 17.65 percent government-run-schools have ‘regular headmasters’ taking toll on the quality education and functioning of the department.
The official figures accessed by Rising Kashmir states that only 17.65 government schools in Jammu and Kashmir were having regular headmasters during the academic year 2018-19.
However, it was also mentioned that the figures include the twin districts Leh and Ladakh of erstwhile JK state.
The figures further reveal that the only 17.87 percent private schools in Jammu and Kashmir were having regular headmasters during the academic year 2018-19 followed by 6.90 percent in government-aided schools and 8.51 percent in other schools respectively.
According to the figures maintained by Ministry of Education (MoE), there are a total of 2062 regular headmasters across Jammu and Kashmir and 186 in Leh, Ladakh and Kargil wherein 4250 are in government schools, 992 in private, two in aided and four in other registered schools.
In south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, a total of 414 regular headmasters are in the government-run-schools while in private schools a total of 56 regular headmasters were working.
Similarly the central Kashmir’s Budgam district has a total of 293 regular headmasters in government schools and 44 in private schools respectively.
Likewise in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, a total of 198 regular headmasters are posted in government schools and only 20 in private schools.
The MoE figures further reveal that north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has a total of 457 regular headmasters posted in government-run-institutions and 51 in private schools followed by Doda district with 106 regular headmasters in government schools and only one in private school.
In Ganderbal, 104 regular headmasters are posted in government schools and 15 in private schools, in Jammu 219 are in government schools while 385 are in private institutions.
The break-up wise details of MoE of the schools with regular headmasters in Jammu and Kashmir reveal that the government schools in Kathua has a total of 236 regular headmasters, Kishtwar with 80, Kulgam with 161, Kupwara 423, Pulwama 239, Poonch 270, Rajouri 339, Ramban 73, Reasi 29, Samba 70, Shopian 84, Srinagar 183 and Udhampur with 76.
