Parts of Kashmir on Saturday received moderate rainfall and the Meteorological Department has predicted the wet spell will continue till Sunday evening.
Deputy Director Metrological Department Kashmir, Mukhtar Ahmad told Rising Kashmir moderate rains occurred across the J&K on Saturday and it would continue till Sunday evening.
“We are expecting widespread rains along with thunder in Jammu and Kashmir during next 12-24 hours in J&K and isolated rains in Ladakh parts,” he said.
Mukhtar said they are forecasted significant improvement in weather from Monday and thereafter a brief spell of rains at afternoons at isolated pockets.
“There is no forecast of any heavy rains in the region and farmers are advised to suspend spraying in their orchards next 1-2 days in view of inclement weather,” he said.
As per MeT officials, while summer capital Srinagar received 1.0 mm rainfall till 5:30 pm on Saturday, Qazigund received 0.8 mm rainfall, Kokernag 3.0 mm, Pahalgam 0.4 mm, Banihal 11.2 mm, and Batote 20.2 mm. Kupwara recorded 0.6 mm rainfall while winter capital Jammu also received 9.0 mm rains.
As per traffic advisory issued here, reads that subject to fair weather and road conditions, only vehicles carrying essential goods will be allowed to move on the highway on Sunday.
