‘Protests erupt in the area, police registers FIR’
An elderly man was killed, while another injured after their two-wheeler was hit by Army vehicle on Wednesday in the Batwara area of Srinagar.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ashraf Shiekh resident of Jawharnagar who was traveling towards Srinagar and died on the spot.
While the injured person was identified as Abdul Hameed Mir son of Maqsood Ahmad, a resident of Zewan area who was riding two-wheeler bearing number JK01AD-0992.
He was shifted to SMHS hospital for further treatment, where his condition is out of danger.
Eyewitness told Rising Kashmir that following the incident, the protesters blocked the Dalgate-Panthachowk road stretch at Batwara and disrupted traffic on the road for few hours.
The protestors were raising pro-justice slogans and demanding action against the accused involved in the incident.
“The man died on the spot, while another person was injured, however, the Army vehicle managed to fled from the spot and left dead body unattended,” they said.
Meanwhile, the dead body was lying on the road and its photos went viral on the social media in the valley.
A Police official at Police Station, Ram Munshi Bagh told Rising Kashmir that they have registered a FIR in the case and have started further investigations in the case.
“We have registered a FIR no 108/2020 in the case and further investigations are going,” the official said.
