Syed Sameer, who had booked a tickets for his family from Jeddah (SA) to Srinagar and was scheduled to return on 8th June but following lockdown, he had decided to cancel his tickets.
“I contacted several times Air office to refund of tickets but they are asking me to bare the cancellation charges and that too 300 Riyals per person,” which is a huge amount,” he said.
Sameer said the flights were cancelled by covid19 lockdown and there is no role of people in that. It is unethical to deduct the charges from the consumers,” he questioned.
“For rebooking validity is till September only. And I have paid the rest amount. If the same situation continues where will we go and I have no money left to go home,” he said.
Another stranded local Hashim Sofi told Rising Kashmir that airline operators are looting people on the name of cancellation charges.
“There are providing us 30% back and that too I have to raise the question 10-12 times then they can think on the issue,” he said.
The stranded people of Jammu and Kashmir have appealed the Government of India and Lieutenant Governor led administration to look into the issue, so that people would not suffer in outside country.
