Six more persons died of COVID-19 in Kashmir during the past 24 hours, taking the death toll in J&K to 133, officials said Sunday.
A 40-year-old coronavirus positive man from Sangrama area of Baramulla, who was also suffering from bilateral pneumonia, died Sunday at the Chest Disease Hospital, Srinagar.
Medical Superintendent CD Hospital, Dr Saleem Tak said the deceased was shifted from SMHS on June 27.
On Sunday evening, a 54-year-old man from Baramulla died at SKIMS Srinagar.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said the man was a case of bilateral community-acquired pneumonia with shock and was on ventilator support.
“He was declared COVID-19 positive Saturday night. He died at 7:30 pm on Sunday,” he said.
A 70-year-old man from Anantnag, who was admitted at SKIMS on July 3 with bilateral pneumonia and community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), died Sunday.
Jan said the swab sample of the deceased that was taken on the date of admission returned positive on Saturday.
“The patient was on NIV support and his attendants had given negative consent for intubation. The man died late Sunday evening. His body was kept in the mortuary overnight,” he said.
A 60-year-old COVID-19 positive woman from Shadipora area of Bandipora also died at SKIMS Srinagar.
Another death has also been reported from Bandipora, the district that has till now reported three COVID-19 deaths.
The sixth death was reported from Srinagar.
With the six fresh causalities, the deaths toll due to coronavirus has soured to 133 in J&K that includes 119 from Kashmir and 14 from Jammu.
Srinagar has witnessed 31 deaths, Baramulla 24, Kulgam 16, Shopian 13, Anantnag 11, Budgam nine, Jammu eight, Kupwara seven, Pulwama four, Bandipora three, Doda two, and Ganderbal, Udhampur, Kathua, Poonch, and Rajouri one each.
