Five more die in 24 hours
Five more COVID-19 patients including four from Kashmir died in Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday, with which the death toll has gone up to 101, officials said.
A 50-year-old coronavirus positive man from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district died at SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina Tuesday morning.
Hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr Shifa Deva said the deceased, a businessman, was a case of pneumonia and was battling for life in the intensive care unit.
A 65-year-old man from Qamarwari admitted at SMHS hospital on Monday died Tuesday morning and later his sample returned positive for coronavirus at the Chest Disease Hospital lab.
Medical Superintendent SMHS, Dr Nazir H Choudary said the man was suffering from bilateral pneumonia and had complained of chest pain before his admission.
Two deaths including a 23-year-old man from Shopian and a 65-year-old woman from Bagat Barzulla were reported from Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar.
Earlier in the day, an 85-year-old woman from Kathua district died at Government Medical College Jammu.
She is the first patient from the district to die of COVID-19.
As per the doctors, the deceased woman was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and was on oxygen support since she was admitted there.
A total of 89 of the total 101 deaths in J&K have been reported from Kashmir division while Jammu has recorded 12 deaths.
According to the government, Srinagar has witnessed 24 deaths, Baramulla 16, Kulgam 13, Shopian 12, Budgam, Jammu, and Anantnag seven each, Pulwama four, and Bandipora, Udhampur, Kathua, Poonch, Doda and Rajouri one each.
