July witnesses 272 deaths, 12,664 cases
Twelve more persons died of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours taking the death toll in J&K to 377 while the infection count crossed 20,000 cases on Friday, officials said.
As per the government, the 12 fresh deaths include seven from Srinagar and one each from Pulwama, Budgam, Bandipora, Poonch and Jammu.
With the fresh deaths, the death toll due to the novel coronavirus has soared to 377 in J&K, which includes 349 from Kashmir and 28 from Jammu.
Srinagar has so far witnessed 120 deaths followed by Baramulla with 68, Kulgam 28, Budgam 27, Anantnag 24, Shopian 23, Kupwara 20, Bandipora 13, Pulwama 10, and Ganderbal six.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has reported 19 deaths, Doda and Rajouri two each, and Udhampur, Kathua, Samba and Poonch one each.
Coronavirus cases have crossed 20,000 mark in Jammu Kashmir which is a worrying figure while COVID-19 hospitals remain busy with the cases.
On Friday, J&K reported 490 fresh COVID-19 cases which includes 347 from Kashmir and 143 from Jammu, pushing the infection tally to 20,359.
Today’s cases include 128 from Srinagar, 85 from Pulwama, Jammu 43, Budgam 29, Baramulla, Rajouri and Udhampur 24 each, Bandipora 22, Anantnag 21, Reasi 20, Samba 18, Kulgam and Kathua 11 each, Ganderbal 10, Kupwara nine, Shopian eight, and Ramban, Poonch and Kishtwar one each.
The government said of the total 6,37,515 test results available, 6,17,156 returned negative and 20,359 positive which include 7755 active positive cases while 12,217 have recovered and been discharged including 375 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 3,68,806 persons had been put under observation including 46,478 in home quarantine, 7765 in hospital isolation, and six in hospital quarantine.
It said 40,732 people were under home surveillance and 2,73,448 persons had completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Srinagar has a total of 4786 cases followed by Baramulla with 1901, Kulgam 1504, Pulwama 1480, Shopian 1430, Anantnag 1299, Budgam 1277, Kupwara 1094, Bandipora 733, and Ganderbal 411.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 1070 cases, Rajouri 670, Ramban 535, Kathua 522, Udhampur 460, Samba 425, Doda 269, Poonch 210, Reasi 146, and Kishtwar 137.
In the month of July, Jammu Kashmir witnessed 272 deaths and 12,664 cases.
